The Idylla system, developed by the medical diagnostics company Biocartis, is a fully automated, real-time PCR (Polymerase Chain Reaction) molecular testing platform. It is designed to rapidly process biological samples to find specific genetic biomarkers, particularly for various forms of cancer.

How It Works
Instead of requiring complex, multi-stage laboratory procedures handled by specialists, Idylla simplifies the entire process into a streamlined workflow:

• All-in-One Cartridge: The patient sample (such as a tiny tissue biopsy or blood draw) is placed into a self-contained, disposable cartridge.
• Sample-to-Result: Once inserted into the instrument, the system automatically handles cell liquefaction, DNA/RNA extraction, amplification, detection, and data analysis.
• Speed: The platform delivers molecular biomarker results in about 35 to 150 minutes, requiring less than 2 minutes of hands-on technician time.
